Friday night options

Free beer at One on One for a Mike Wendorf meet and greet, Fu Manchu canceled at the 3-Rock, Janis Figure reuniting after 5-years at the Uptown on its last Friday and 3rd to last day open - ever, buncha people in for the what-have-you tomorrow.

Faux Jean played last night at the Uptown; entertaining, had a blast.
And it's raining.

HFF13

These came at us in some sort of order, then got all jumbled up in the process of internetting. Take your pick, it should be fun no matter where you end up.

Anal adventures

You ever add the words "in bed" after your fortune at a Chinese restaurant? Well, walking through the parking lot at work today, the König tells us the game of putting the word "anal" before the model of car, for instance: Anal Escape. It quickly got out of hand:

Anal Probe
Anal Legend
Anal Explorer (Ford seems to have some pretty good ones)
Anal Trooper
Anal Blazer
and so on; you go ahead and try. What's your favorite?

On the other channel, here's what happens when you invite grown adults with a trailer into your backyard and they have Fleck friends with an unopened can of beverage just a few blocks away. Well in all honesty they sort of invited themselves:
Lazy Sunday

24-inch rear.
Lazy Sunday

This didn't always end too greatly.

A couple more here.

In the unrelated section, the front fender on the Globe Live is bent outta shape and made all sorts of noise on the way home; sorry to former V.P. Mondale, that was us that likely woke you up.

it keeps snowing but it just won't stick

Been trying to stay on the down-low the past few days, keepin outta trouble and not spending money. That all came to an abrupt halt last night, we can now confidently state, and it was great seeing all of you in the process. The pre-shenanigans consisted of spending 13 hours driving back and forth through central Wisconsin, through slush and thick snow, tens of cars spinning out and slamming in the ditch, one nary missing the rear bumper of my company's mini-van by inches; we feel it's quite okay to slow down a bit and get to your destination just a few minutes later, trying to back off and look at the bigger picture that is. It's true that certain beverages are cheaper in the state off our starboard bow, rest assured we took full advantage of our geographic advantage position.

Just made brunch reservations at the triple rock with a friend just in from the EU. Haven't been there for food in a long while and just remembered that the past few times we have gone there the food sort of slacked off a bit from the taste we had gotten used to. Taste buds do change over time, perhaps that's the reason.

Oh yeah, the annual what-have-you has been formally posted; head over to Surly Blog for further guidance; two events if you look closely.

bike lanes confusing?

Our own Hurl Everstone thinks the new bike lanes downtown are "going to be a real turn-off." We know one Brompton rider that got clipped last night by a SUV making a right turn off 1st Ave; be careful out there, and get a damn light.

Superior Hiking Trail

We've been hiking in the Northwoods many times, but this weekend was the first on the Superior Hiking Trail. The weather was cool and perfect for fall season camping; setup a campfire in the backwoods and forget all troubles. The colors are past their peak, but are still outstanding; recommended.

If you're going in November, note the trail is closed from the 7th to 22nd for deer hunters. Speaking of hunters, when did it become standard for this group to require an ATV to get them around the woods? Strap a damn gun on your back and hike it in and out, old school.

Take It Easy

Friday night, 11:45, heading south on Nicollet, approaching 28th St. A firetruck turns off of 28th onto Nicollet northbound, lights are off. It stops as we look right and notice a truck up on the sidewalk, on fire - cool. A few firemen run out of their firetruck as they turn their emergency lights on. Now the sound of squealing tires; the truck isn't on fire, it's on top of a downed tree it just killed, trying to recover, going forward but pressed against the brick of Marissa's bakery, burning a cloud of rubber in the process. Two firemen open the truck door and grab the guy; he's unable to stand up on his own - not cool. DWI apprehension by a fire crew less than 300-feet from their station. Cops hadn't arrived by the time we left.

This is the kind of truck he was driving; a Chevy Duelie 4x4, but red; a big m-fking mass of steel. Probably gets decent mileage, by the looks of it.
Be careful out there.

two pictures are worth a bunch of words

A lot of events going on this weekend, what're you gonna be doing? Oh yeah, heading to the BLB; stop on over, we'll be the ones taunting you as you ride by all while we clutch pint glasses; multitasking at its best .

a few words to get the ball rolling

Got a new hat for cold weather yesterday along with a compact Esbit stove for camping. The Mplschick got a new Brooks saddle yesterday, the women's team pro; that's gonna hurt the old taint for a few weeks, we reckon. Been really enjoying the IPA from lagunitas, currently our top IPA on the block, even moving past the Single Wide, though tasty as well.

Who's ready for winter?

Chloe is 10 today. Happy Birthday Chloe!

I met Chloe back when she was just seven:
This is Chloe

Here she is in the summer of 2009, a short time before her parents decided they had enough of the MPLS and all that reside there.
kermit the frog

She's living in an undisclosed location out west, now acting as the youngest librarian at her local 521.

Have a special day Chloe, we all miss you!
